The Trailblazery Presents:
Moon Medicine: "Rebelles with a Cause"
with Angela Scanlon & Imelda May

Dearest friends,

We are so excited about this next Moon Medicine on June 23 where we host two deadly Irish women, Angela Scanlon and Imelda May, to discuss sisterhood, motherhood, daughterhood and everything in between.

These two extraordinary Irish creatrixes are living in the UK and have both forged stellar careers in the Film, TV and Rock & Roll worlds. They also moonlight as writers, artists, poets, podcasters, fashionistas and soul seekers. We are so delighted to invite them both to Moon Medicine for some witchy chats and tales of the unexpected.

 Kathy Scott, Founder and Creative Director of The Trailblazery shares;

“I am completely ‘over the moon’ to invite Angela and Imelda to our circle as guest luminaries. Both of these Irish women are brilliant trailblazers and inspire so many people to live their best lives. They are bright, successful, sensitive, generous, real and partial to a little bit of craic. They are also kindred spirits and I can’t wait to welcome them to our Moon Medicine family. Join us and tell your sisters”.

About Angela

Angela Scanlon is an Irish television presenter and broadcaster for RTÉ and the BBC. She presents Your Home Made Perfect on BBC2, a home renovation series using ground-breaking virtual reality technology to showcase two potential renovation solutions for a problem home. She is also a regular presenter on The One Show on BBC1 and part of the BBC Radio 2 family presenting her own show, “Angela Scanlon on Sunday”. She also hosts her own podcast 'Thanks A Million' with Angela Scanlon.

Angela’s first major documentary, OI GINGER, aired in 2014 on RTE to critical acclaim – the show trended worldwide on Twitter and showed off Angela’s playful presenting style and her ability to dig deep into a subject matter. The success of the show led to a follow-up series, Angela Scanlon: Full Frontal in 2015, where she tackled taboo subjects such as extreme makeovers, fitness and nudity. A further series followed Angela Scanlon’s Close Encounters, which saw her dive into the world of WWE with world champion Sheamus, head to NYC to chat books and babies with Dawn O’Porter and take on Katie Hopkins in a very honest and candid interview. From 2016 – 2018 she undertook her first role on a major British show as a co-host of Robot Wars with Dara O’Briain.

Imelda May is an Irish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Although known primarily as a singer, she also plays the bodhránguitarbass guitar and tambourine.

Born and raised in The Liberties area of Dublin, Imelda has become one of Ireland’s most famed female artists in history. Discovered by Jools Holland, who asked Imelda to go on tour with him, Imelda has gone on to perform duets with artists including U2, Lou Reed, Sinead O Connor, Robert Plant, Van Morrison, Jack Savoretti and Elvis Costello and has featured on recent albums and live tours with Jeff Beck, Jeff Goldblum and Ronnie Wood.

She formed her own band in 2002, and released her debut studio album, No Turning Back. Following an appearance on the BBC music programme Later... with Jools Holland in 2008, she released her second studio album, Love Tattoo (2009). Her third studio album, Mayhem, was released in 2010 and earned her a nomination for the Choice Music Prize. Her fourth studio album, Tribal came out in 2014 and her fifth, Life Love Flesh Blood, was released in 2017,

She returned in 2020 with Slip of the Tongue, a musical spoken word EP issued by Universal. Derived from personal notebooks, it addressed topics including heartbreak, obsession, and isolation. At the end of the year, May delivered the first new material from her sixth studio album with the track "11 Past the Hour." ‘11 Past The Hour’ is a record that brims with sensuality, emotional intelligence, spirituality and intuition, marking a new chapter for Imelda and showcasing her at her most authentic. With pals and collaborators like Wood, Gallagher and Miles Kane and inspired contributions from feminist thinkers and activists such as Gina Martin and Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, the album is an invigorating statement of rock n’ low slung blues.
