Dear friends,

You are warmly invited to “Field Notes | Exploring the Healing Powers of the Natural World”, an online Summer Solstice gathering at Hedge School for our Summer trilogy This Place We Call Home. Our very own Derry girls Kerri ní Dochartaigh and Bronagh Gallagher will join us on Sunday, June 19 at 7pm (Irish time) for a special evening celebrating the energies of this turning of the wheel.

The sun reaches its zenith at Midsummer on June 21, marking the Summer Solstice as the longest day of the year. It is a time when our ancestors gathered around fires and celebrated with wild abandon. This ‘peak‘ moment is a sacred gateway, and we are coming together to share a sense of belonging and participation with our wild selves and the wild world that nourishes us. This is an invitation to return to your senses and rekindle a connection to your untamed nature. All of our Hedge School experiences are immersive and include conversation, performance and guided meditative experiences.

Our guide Kerri ní Dochartaigh is the author of Thin Places (Canongate, 2020) which was highly commended by the Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing 2021. Lauded by The Guardian as “a Derry writer’s powerful, unflinching account of her war-torn childhood and her quest for peace that is part hymn to nature, part Troubles memoir”, Kerri will invite us into her vital perspective on right relationship with the natural world.

Our musician Bronagh Gallagher is considered one of Ireland’s leading actors and voices of soul music and is deeply respected for both the quality of her songwriting and her stellar live performances.

Tickets are now available on our website. You can join this session for €33, or purchase a Season Ticket to all three events in our Summer series for €88 (this includes a recording of our previous Bealtaine call). Individual tickets to our Lughnasa gathering will be available closer to the time.
